The Star Chefs

Following the publication of The Starchefs Cookbook I have worked with many other talented and
renowned chefs on commissions to showcase their skills and creativity. In 1997 I was commissioned
by Gordon Ramsay to design a dress plate for his restaurant at the time, Aubergine, made by Villeroy
& Boch. It further inspired me to create my own range of porcelain plates with Jersey Pottery,
depicting 20 images of fish and shellfish aswell ingredients such as spices and vegetables. These are
now collected and used both in restaurants and for the home.

Many customers have bought the wine paintings, fish paintings, and kitchen paintings (scenes of
the chefs at work) for domestic and restaurant environments. Below is a selection of pictures on
some of the chefs I have worked with. They include recipe and wine prints many of which were
commissioned by the chefs for their regular customers, which have become sought after
collectable prints as I have only printed a few artist proofs of each recipe.

The Starchefs Cookbook

Each chapter within my book - The Star Chefs cookbook (Lives and favourite recipes of British and Irish chefs who have received Michelin stars) - is dedicated to one of the chefs (click Star Chefs page to see selection of images within the book). Having worked with the top Michelin starred chefs in the United Kingdom for four years the Star Chefs Cookbook is a beautifully illustrated collection of personal portraits of the finest chefs in the country. Each chef has submitted his or her favourite recipes and signature dishes, with special interviews to talk about their life and work.

"The idea for the book first arrived in the winter of 1995; I remember walking past a restaurant and being drawn to the vibrancy inside. It was so full of life, so colourful, it seemed such an exciting era for the chefs and their restaurants. Almost immediately, I set up easel in the street and started painting. At first my vision was to put on a show of the paintings, with a catalogue that included the recipes. But it soon became apparent that I could create a unique book, a portrait of excellence told through my art."

The concept of the book was to showcase the 'signature dishes' of each of the chefs - starters, main courses and desserts. The restaurant sommeliers offered wine recommendations, shown as bottle paintings and wine notes (click Prints icon).

The hardback and soft cover editions sold out in 2005. From time to time I have a few sign collectors copies (hard back £30 and soft cover £20) in stock. To order please email the artist for availability.
